Angular and Node Developer

About Alpine Labs:

Alpine Labs (alpinelaboratories.com) started as a group of friends that were passionate about engineering and time-lapse photography. Inspired by weekend climbing trips to Yosemite, we wanted to help photographers capture complex visual stories with simple and intuitive time lapse products. We are bootstrapped, were born on Kickstarter 3 years ago, and now have three flagship products: Radian, Michron, and Pulse.

As a team we balance being highly professionally motivated while also wanting to get out to climb, ski, or mountain bike after work and on the weekends. We’ve also been known to take powder days off. Our Boulder office currently consists of three engineers, and we are looking to add a fourth as we expand to handle the huge demand for our latest product, Pulse. Our Boulder office is currently located downtown on Pearl, but we are looking to move soon as we expand (likely nearby to 29th and Baseline).

Job Description:

As the third full-time engineer on our team, you will need to be able to solve problems and work in a dynamic environment. That said, your main priority for the foreseeable future will be our phone/tablet App. The use cases have changed enormously since the app was first written, and you will be re-writing it from the ground up. If this sounds fun, read on!

Our App is written as a webpage and is ported to Android and iOS using the Phonegap framework. The current app is written in raw html/js/css back when Phonegap was new, but the new app will be built in Angular. Because of this, front end web development skills are what we are looking for.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency developing in AngulaJS [must]
  • The ability to solve problems and work well in a small team [must]
  • A working understanding of software development in basic HTML/JS/CSS [preferred]
  • A working understanding of Git and versioning systems [preferred]

Compensation:

Compensation will be on an hourly basis (unless you prefer a salary), but will be roughly pegged to a (pre-overtime) $60-$90K/year rate depending on experience. We are also currently exploring an employee stock/ownership program but do not have one worked out yet (we’re small).

We are currently operating on a 40 hour/week schedule, but we are also open to individuals who would like to work fewer than 40 hours/week.

Location:

Until we move (to somewhere else with Boulder), you will be working from our office in downtown Boulder (near 15th and Pearl). Working from home is fine sometimes, but generally you will need to show up to have access to the hardware.

Perks

We are a small team, and you will work directly with our founder and CEO (me). We have a casual office culture - wear what you want and (roughly) set your hours. We also leave our work at the office.
